Props, Politics and Children

Children becoming political mascots
South of the border, where the presidential race has taken on the outlandish colouring of a cartoon, children are now playing a starring role
"Stay back! I’ve got a son and I’m not afraid to use him!"
The cartoonist is taking aim at Harper’s new, domestic persona, which has emerged in the TV ad titled "Family is everything."
It’s been ridiculously easy for politicians and political pundits to lampoon the ad
there’s something unique about the particular cartoon I’ve described – it was created by a 10-year-old. Even a child, it seems, can see through the self-serving motives of politicians who use their children as political props.
something is being perpetrated upon you and your country that is so obscene that it simply cannot be happening."
I like to hope that many thinking moms and dads – and grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles – will make this the federal election to say, "I have a ballot, and I’m not afraid to use it!"
